Koteka Electrical is owned by Wayne and Kushla Laursen. The business was originally established by Kushla's parents John and Liz Koteka in 1989.
John completed his apprenticeship in Hamilton, moved to Foxton Beach in 1984, and started Koteka Electrical as a partnership before becoming a company in 2004.
Wayne started working for John in 1992, starting his apprenticeship not long after, and now has over 25 years experience in the electrical trade. Kushla is the office manager and takes care of all the daily administrative tasks.
Koteka Electrical employs a talented team: Stephen Brown started as a gateway student while attending the local secondary school as well as doing work experience with Koteka Electrical in the school holidays. He completed the pre-apprenticeship electrical course at UCOL then completed his apprenticeship with Koteka Electrical and is now a Registered electrician.
Joey Thomas is currently completing his apprenticeship, and John, now retired, still keeps his hand in and works a couple of days a week as needed rounding out the Koteka team.
